| Description

The first interceptor in RAF service to be capable of more than 200 MPH.

The only known surviving Hawker Fury in the world, K5674, is a superb tribute to what is often called the most beautiful biplane ever. With its polished metal engine cowlings the Fury almost reflects the art deco design movement popular in the 1930s. The Fury was as deadly as it was beautiful and was one of the most potent fighters of its day. Capable of over 200mph and very manoeuvrable, the Fury saw service right up to the first few years of the Second World War.

This particular machine was sent to South Africa after its RAF service ended in 1940 and was found there by the Historic Aircraft Collection. Painstakingly restored, the Fury once again graced the skies of Great Britain on 30th July 2012.

Hawker Fury - AA27301

Corgi have firmly established themselves as the leaders for 1/72 scale biplanes with full rigging details. Starting with the Gloster Gladiator and then the Swordfish it was great news when the Demon/Hart/Audax was announced. This era of RAF aircraft are both interesting and colourful as they were the generation before the monoplane Spitfire and Hurricane. In colourful squadron markings they were fantastic look machines so it was even better news when the iconic Hawker Fury was announced. The model does well to capture the clean lines of the aircraft and once again the rigging is a highlight. The scheme is significant as it represents the worlds only flying original Hawker Fury based in the UK.

Hopefully Corgi will release more of these colourful silver Hawker Fury's to represent other famous RAF squadrons.
